Distilled: Ginger Whiskey Sour

Just as the leaves begin to change color and you break out your jeans, boots, and jackets to transition into crisper fall weather, we have a delightful fall cocktail that bridges the transition into warmer fall palates as well.

This Ginger Whiskey Sour, crafted with our friends from Orasella, will take you from the lingering summer warmth into the crisp fall days with a hint of sweet, smoky, and sour summer citrus mixed with the tangy notes of ginger beer.

Made using our Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Kentucky Sour Mixer, this delicious and delightfully simple fall cocktail is infused with notes of wildflower honey that has been slowly smoked over retired Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrel staves for that signature Pappy Van Winkle flavor.  The refreshing burst of citrus, reminiscent of the recently waned summer sun, meets the natural spice of ginger beer and just a touch of smokey honey for some welcome toasty fall warmth.

Ginger beer is an ideal accompaniment to our Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Kentucky Sour Mixer, with complementary hints of citrus, smoky sweetness, and spicy undertones for a balanced, yet surprisingly refreshing and warm cocktail.  With just a few simple ingredients, this cocktail can be easily made as you make dinner, or whip up a batch as you wait for kick-off.

Top with an Orasella Maraschino Cherry for that final touch that adds a dash of flavor and color that makes this cocktail a true fall stand-out. Orasella’s artisan cherries are harvested, prepared, and preserved by hand in Seattle, Washington, by a small team as dedicated to quality as we are. We join them in their belief that “a cocktail’s finish is as important as its first taste.” Cheers!

Mixologist Recommends: Serve in a Highball for an elevated craft cocktail experience, we suggest our Pappy & Company Tall Tumbler Glasses.  Stir with our elegant and multi-functional Everyday Heirlooms Katie Van Sipping Spoon, crafted in brass, for a sophisticated, yet simple, fall Pappy Hour gathering.

Mixologist Note: We used Fever Tree Ginger Beer for extra ginger flavor in this custom craft cocktail.
