Pappyland: A Story of Family, Fine Bourbon, and the Things That Last. Signed Edition.

When the award-winning journalist Wright Thompson approached our dad Julian Van Winkle about telling his story—how Dad set out to save our family’s storied bourbon legacy...one barrel at a time—he didn't quite realize what he’d signed up for. He'll be the first to admit, he’s not a natural talker, but Thompson amplified his voice and spun Dad’s truth-is-stranger-than-fiction tale with authenticity and soul. It’s a book our family will cherish for generations, and we hope the bourbon lovers in yours will, too.

*This special edition features a signed bookplate by Julian Van Winkle (while supplies last).

Great history of bourbon

Really enjoyed the book. Being from Louisville I can appreciate it more than most. It also helped explain how complicated the industry really is. Drink what you like and share it with your friends.

Fine Bourbon, Fine Family, Fine Book

This book gives in depth information on the family behind the best bourbon in America! Wright Thompson has done a superb job portraying the ups, downs, ins, and outs of the bourbon industry while at the same time giving us insights into the Van Winkle family. He asks the questions of Julian we all seem to want to want answered about our own family and friendship situations, and ends up coming to grips with how he wants his own relationships to grow and develop. All this woven around the bourbon industry in that special Kentucky area know affectionately as Pappyland. The book has inspired me to visit my brother and wife who just moved to Lexington, and spend several days touring the sites in the book as well as all the distilleries mentioned, plus others. I am looking forward to tasting fine bourbon!
