Introducing the Flying Pig, a limited-edition smoke part of our barrel-fermented Pappy & Company cigar collection available in limited numbers and sold exclusively at pappyco.com.
One of the most desired vitolas in our portfolio, The Flying Pig is presented in a 3 15/16" x 60 ring gauge vitola, a favorite amongst cigar enthusiasts worldwide. The unique shape is based on a photograph of an 1895 cigar salesman’s size-selection case and is one of the most complicated vitolas to manufacture due to the size and signature pigtail, which requires specialized training.
The Barrel-Fermented Flying Pig features the same blend as our other barrel-fermented cigars, so tasting notes—think: hickory, charcoal, and fresh earth—are the same although you can expect a smoother smoking experience due to the larger ring gauge. In addition, due to its unique size, the Flying Pig vitola, while shorter in length, is a long smoking experience, so enthusiasts can easily expect this cigar to last an hour and a half.
For those new to the collection, the Pappy Van Winkle Barrel-Fermented Cigars are made with a combination of the finest Kentucky, Mexican, and Indonesian tobacco and are hand-rolled in small batches at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua and are unlike anything else on the market thanks to our unique barrel fermentation process. Throughout the 12-18 month fermentation process, bundles of Kentucky fire-cured tobacco are pressed in Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels, imparting a unique flavor profile and aroma. Pairs well with spicier spirits such as rye.
The passion project of two college buddies from New York (Jonathan Drew and Marvin Samel), Drew Estates, based in Esteli, Nicaragua, is the result of decades of hardwork and a commitment to rolling some of the finest cigars you can find. They’re also deeply committed to supporting the people who work for them, creating an inspiring art-filled workspace and providing both healthcare and reliable transportation.
Our cigars arrive sealed and shrink wrapped in cellophane. We are unable to accept returns on opened boxes
How quickly your cigars will dry out depends on the humidity in the air. More humid climates are better for cigars. In general, you should store cigars in a humidor or airtight bag as soon as your shipment arrives. Due to inconsistent shipping climates, it is important to give your cigars a few days to rehydrate before enjoying one. If you don't have a humidor we suggest putting the cigars in a plastic food storage bag or container. For every 25 cigars stored, put a damp sponge or paper towel in the bag or container. Store the bag on a shelf or in a closet. If you don't have a humidor, we suggest purchasing one of our Boveda humidor bags or one of our 2-way humidity control packs designed to keep your cigars at the ideal humidity. They are available for purchase on our website. Please note: Our cigars arrive sealed and shrink-wrapped in cellophane. We are unable to accept returns on opened boxes.
I now have lost count of just how many boxes of flying pigs I have purchased and with each box they just keep getting better. Always a fast delivery and just a pleasure doing business. There is no let down with this company and their products ever!!
They might be short it stature but they last through a pour or two. I use a “V” cut and it produces the best draw and a powerful experience. I will continue to buy when they’re available.
