Not only are they a Van Winkle Family favorite, but they are an iconic representation of bourbon history, lore, and legend. Dreamt up in the Louisville, Kentucky, kitchen of Ruth Hanley Booe (of famed confectionery, Rebecca Ruth Candy) in 1938, they quickly became a Christmas tradition in the South. Fortunately for fans of these little bites of bliss, they are no longer relegated to one season (however, they do remain our most gifted holiday treat).
