Distilled: Smoky Peach Bourbon Summer Sipper


A craft cocktail that celebrates the fresh flavors of summer - our Smoky Peach Bourbon Summer Sipper - combines grilled peaches, bright citrus and the subtly sweet and signature flavor of our Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Pure Maple Syrup with a final highlight of fresh summer basil.


Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup

While it may seem like you simply can't beath the inherently succulent and perfect juiciness of a ripe summer peach - and that it would be a cumbersome step to take to throw it on the grill, trust us.  Grilling peaches is one of our favorite surprising ways to easily enhance the natural sweet and tart notes of a fresh summer peach. It amplifies the natural sweetness bringing forth a caramelized effect, and increases the overall juiciness for an extra dose of perfectly sweet, grilled peach essence. 


Paired with the tart citrus of freshly squeezed lemon juice and balanced by the oaky, smoky sweetness with notes of vanilla and caramel from our Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Pure Maple Syrup for a brightly crisp, sweetly juicy, and freshly delicious summer cocktail bursting with flavor. Muddled with fresh basil for a hint of subtly spicy summer flavor, this cocktail is sure to delight on a warm summer evening.

Use the custom torch to fire up the genuine Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel Stave block, releasing the unique flavors held deep within the wood of a recently dumped barrel. Having housed the bourbon for upwards of 12 to 15 or 20 years, the barrel staves carry remnants of the bourbon aging process, carried with each wisp of smoke trapped within the glass for an added element of signature sweet and smoky flavor.

Smoky Peach Bourbon Summer Sipper


 


Directions:

1. Halve and pit peach(es);

2. Brush peach slices with Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Pure Maple Syrup;

3. Grill on medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side until grill marks appear and peaches are slightly caramelized; 

4. In a cocktail shaker, muddle 1/4 peach and fresh basil

5. Add bourbon, maple syrup, and lemon juice; 

6. Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously;

7. Fill glass with ice and pour mixture over ice;

8. Garnish with a peach slice and sprig of basil (top with club soda if desired) and serve!


If using with the Pappy Van Winkle Smoked Cocktail Kit - fill the glass with smoke before pouring in your cocktail mixture!

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe peach
  •  2 ounces bourbon 
  •  1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  •  1/2 ounce Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Pure Maple Syrup 
  • Fresh basil 
  • Ice
  • Optional: club soda, extra peach slices and basil for garnish &
  • for added smokiness - treat the glass to a smoke bath using our Pappy Van Winkle Smoked Cocktail Kit
