Crafting the Perfect Bourbon Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned is one of the oldest mixed drinks in history. This "gentleman's cocktail" was once called the Whiskey Old Fashioned and was intended to have the base spirit (almost always bourbon) shine among the other ingredients.

With just the right amount of sweetener, bitters, and hints of fruit, the Old Fashioned still reigns as one of the most popular mixed cocktails. However, purists would agree that the ingredients have to be just right to keep the bourbon flavor at its best.

We took the guesswork out of this age-old cocktail concoction when we partnered with Bittermilk to create an at-home craft cocktail mix that bottled the best flavors of the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned into a two-step recipe that anyone can master.

Given our family business, we've enjoyed our fair share of Old Fashioneds over the years and are proud to say we think our Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned Mix is quite possibly the best (and easiest) Old Fashioned we have enjoyed.

So whether you consider yourself an at-home craft cocktail master mixologist or you are more of a novice testing out your early craft cocktail skills, we think all bourbon enthusiasts will find this recipe easy to follow and even easier to enjoy.
