What We’re Sipping in September

It has been such fun for us to work with our friend and master mixologist, Kyle Higgins to craft a speciality beverage each month and since Fall is a transitional time when it’s not quite cold but still warm enough to really enjoy being outside we really wanted a drink that was reflective of that. So we bring you the Michelada! The Michelada is a traditional Mexican beverage made with beer, lime juice, Worcestershire, soy sauce and hot sauce and served with a chili salted rim. It’s full of big flavor with savory ingredients, bold acidity and a nice shot of heat and spice. The secret to the perfect Michelada is in the balance. The perfect amount of lime juice keeps it fresh and tart, and keeps you coming back for more!

Ingredients:

4oz. Clamato Juice

2 tsp. Van Winkle Barrel Aged Hot Sauce

1 Tbs. Soy Sauce

1 Tbs. Worcestershire Sauce

2 Tbs. Tajin (chili-salt blend).

1 12 oz. Mexican Lager (such as Victoria of Modelo Especial).

Fresh lime

Directions:

Rim a tall Collins style glass with lime juice and Tajin.

Mix the soy, Worcestershire and hot sauce.

Add 4oz. of Clamato juice (tomato & clam juice)

Fill the glass with ice and add a Mexican style lager (Victoria or Modelo Especial).

Garnish with a fresh lime wheel and another pinch of Tajin.

Enjoy!
