Another Great Year at Charleston Wine & Food Festival!

For our second year in a row,Pappy & Company attended theCharleston Wine and Food Festival (CHSWFF) and it did not disappoint! It was an especially exciting time for us as we launched ourBourbon Maple Biscuits in collaboration with Charleston’s esteemedCallie’s Biscuits and made for a very indulgent weekend filled with food, wine, biscuits--and bourbon of course.

The proof is in the pudding, or in this case the dough, that great friends, great ideas and great businesses are the ingredients to great partnerships. As you can see from the photos below there was no shortage of fun and food as we celebrated with local culinary and bourbon enthusiasts our bourbon inspired goods. Here are a few highlights from the weekend:

Biscuits (at every meal): What better time or place to launch our most recent collaboration? Pairing a few of our favorite things like butter, maple and bourbon we were excited to debut ourBourbon Maple Biscuits in partnership with Callie’s Biscuits at the festival. In conjunction to tastings at the Culinary Village we may have stopped once (or a dozen) times atCallie’s Hot Little Biscuit Shop conveniently located across the street from where we were staying.

Biscuit Bombing on The Today Show: As part of our launch we were fortunate enough to be featured on the Today Show where they did a live stream to their New York City studio including a “biscuit bomb” in the audience. The chance to meet Al Roker in person as well as have the pleasure of his wife Deborah Roberts stop by our booth for a tasting was a real treat! It was great to see so many talented female chefs from the South recognized by theToday Show during CHSWFF and feel fortunate to be included in such a great group of women.

Heritage Radio Podcast: We had the chance to sit down (which is always much needed after so much running around) to chat with Carrie and Heritage Radio about the recent biscuit collaboration and also what it means to run a family business. In this podcast “Biscuit Meets Bourbon” it was great to share stories about Pappy, running a business with sisters and always staying true to our family roots and Pappy’s core business values that defined Pappy Van Winkle bourbon.

Dinner at FIG (Food Is Good): It wouldn’t be a proper visit to Charleston if we didn’t manage to squeeze in a meal at FIG. As always, Chef Jason, Owner Mike Lata, and the entire team atFIG outdid themselves. What we love about FIG is their ability to seamless deliver incredible food in an unassuming way that makes it feel like you’re in the comfort of their private home kitchen with the most attentive service staff waiting on hand. Even on the busiest of nights, we enjoyed a wonderful meal that made our bellies full and our mouths grin. Creative combinations of the season’s best offerings, mixed with delicious cocktails, and a gorgeous ambiance made for another memorable dinner we will dream of until next year.

Sunday Finale Supper: What a way to end the weekend! Carrie Morey’s traditional Sunday Finale Supper is beloved invitation we are grateful to receive for a second year in a row. After an action packed weekend there is no better way to celebrate another successful year at CHSWFF than a home cooked meal. It is always such a treat to join Carrie and her family in their stunning Charleston home for a Persian inspired menu. Carrie has such a way of making everyone feel welcomed, she always puts out an incredible spread and is such a gracious host. We don’t know how she manages to do it after all the events throughout the weekend! She makes entertaining look easy and is one of the many reasons we admire her!
