Pappy & Company x Shady Rays | Introducing Pappy & Co. Special Reserve Sunglasses

Every so often, a partnership comes along that fits our family's story so well it feels like it was always meant to happen. Our new collaboration with Shady Rays is one of them. 

Together with this fellow Kentucky brand, we've made the Pappy & Co. Special Reserve, a pair of premium polarized sunglasses shaped by our family's bourbon history. We didn't just start with an existing frame and add our name to it, though. We designed the pair together from scratch, and every element was chosen to represent part of our family's story.

Details That Reward a Closer Look

The Special Reserve keeps its stories quiet until you go looking for them:

• Label filigree: The wire inside each temple carries the ornate pattern from the Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year label.
• Key-inspired hardware: The gold finish was matched to one of Pappy's own keys. It's a nod to the five keys that once hung at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery.
• Van Winkle pins: Custom pins sit on the front of the frame.
• Hidden keys: Our Pappy & Company three-key logo is tucked into the hinge, and you'll only see it when you open the sunglasses.

The frames are made from acetate in a Smoke Tortoise finish and fitted with Shady Rays' polarized lenses. There will be just 999 pairs, each with its own number inside the temple, and they won't be made again once they're gone. 

Packaging Worth Keeping

The sunglasses ship in a box modeled on the three-bottle cases that once carried Van Winkle bourbon to stores. Open it and you'll find a black collector's box with the Family Reserve 20 Year label, a hard case, and a copy of the red velvet bag that comes with every bottle of the 20 Year.
