SISTER, CO-FOUNDER, DESIGNER, MOM: meet Chenault James of Chenault James Interiors and Pappy & Company co-founder. While Chenault spends a majority of her time running her interior design business, her creative talents play an integral role at Pappy & Company and have led to the inspiration of some of our homeware pieces including our Bourbon Barrel Hoop Sculpture, Charred Oak Stave Lamp, and Oak Occasional Chair. Working alongside sisters Louise and Carrie, Chenault offers a refreshing perspective driven by her interior design business that allows Pappy & Company to truly be a well rounded lifestyle brand.
Named a 2015 New Trad Designer by Traditional Home, Chenault James Interiors is based in Louisville, KY. Chenault has been specializing in high-end residential design since 2009 and works on projects throughout the country. After living in Columbus for 9 years, Chenault and her husband Ed moved to her native hometown of Louisville, KY with their two young children, daughter Neal and son Bo.
Chenault’s work has been featured in design publications including Southern Living, Coastal Living, Traditional Home and StyleBlueprint. She is known for juxtaposing treasured family pieces with modern materials and finishes to create exciting-but-familiar spaces. As one client said,“Chenault has this way of making things updated but timeless.”
This old meets new approach is a driving design principle behind the product development at Pappy & Company. Her design work is very much in the same vein of what creates Pappy & Company’s signature style: modern sophisticated meets classic elements, all while keeping it real and comfortable. Chenault aims for products that are classic and timeless while still current and fresh — with a strong sense of individuality.
Chenault will be opening her new office space in NuLu adjoined with the new Pappy & Company headquarters. As the perfect fusion of Chenault’s two business passions meeting under one roof, we cannot wait to see what comes of these two brands starting to work more closely in the future.
