Cherry Espresso Martini

for Valentine's Day or Galentine's Day Celebrations

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that can inspire a range of emotions - from eye rolls to heart eyes - everyone seems to have a differing take on this day in the middle of what is usually a bleak winter month.

However, wherever you fall on the Valentine’s celebration spectrum, whether you are solidly a Galentine’s observer, have already stocked up on conversation hearts to share with your loved ones, or prefer to pretend it is just another day of the week, we at least like to have a few Valentine’s inspired recipes to share however you prefer to mark the occasion.

Pappy & Company Gift Guides

Since we introduced our Pappy Van Winkle Espresso Elixir, we have been delighting in the sweet, frothy, and decadent sips that have been sustaining us through this cold and snowy season so far.  The luscious layers of burnt sugar, vanilla, buttery caramel, bold cacao, rich notes of espresso, and hints of Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged sweet charred oak combine for a truly luxurious, yet shockingly simple, Espresso Maritini. With endless versatility, our Espresso Elixir can be used to make as many craft cocktails, morning cold brews, and sweet, decadent treats as you can creatively dream up.

One such concoction we couldn’t wait to try for this ambivalently honored holiday is inspired by the sweet, bursting, red cherries from our friends at Orasella. Whether you are hosting a cozy night in for your girlfriends or surprising your love with a candlelight dinner, this Cherry Espresso Martini is a delicious, creamy, and indulgently smooth cocktail to enjoy anytime, with anyone, if that someone is simply yourself.

Orasella Maraschino Cherries

Orasella Maraschino Cherries are the secret ingredient to many of our favorite cocktail recipes, for good reason. Delicate, tender, juicy, they are grown, harvested, and preserved by hand in Seattle, Washington, following the traditional Italian method and recipe.  Enjoy this Cherry Espresso Martini, and in honor of St. Valentine, make sure to include a vibrant, dark, and juicy red cherry on top, alongside the traditional three coffee beans wishing you health, wealth, and happiness… and, of course, love.

Best enjoyed in a chilled glass. We suggest our sophisticated, elevated, and retro set of either our Signature Keys Coupe Cocktail Glasses or Signature Keys Nick and Nora Cocktail Glasses.

Cherry Espresso Martini

Our delicious and luxurious Pappy Van Winkle Espresso Elixir meets tart, juicy, and vibrant cherry juice for a creamy and decadent Cherry Espresso Martini that is perfect for a Valentine's Day (or Galentine's Day) celebration.

Featuring signature caramelized vanilla, buttery caramel, and sweet charred oak flavor notes of our Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel-Aged Espresso, layered with rich cacao, burnt sugar, and demerara sugar, our Pappy Van Winkle Espresso Elixir provides the luscious base for a frothy yet deceptively easy Espresso Martini. Paired with maraschino cherries from our friends at Orasella, whose cherries are grown and harvested by hand, following the traditional Italian recipe.

Serve in a chilled glass, garnish with the traditional three coffee beans and an Orasella cherry. For a celebratory Cherry Espresso Martini, consider a few chocolate shavings or adorn your glass with a sugared or chocolate rim.

For an even creamier version, consider adding the ingredients, along with a dash of your favorite creamer and a few whole cherries (frozen or jarred), to a blender.

To make a NA version of this Cherry Espresso Martini, simply use your favorite NA spirit instead of traditional vodka and your favorite creamer.
