SPRING IS HERE AND THAT MEANS HAPPY HOUR IS MOVING OUTSIDE AND ON THE GO

With weather warming, days getting longer and more excuses to stay outside, there’s all the more reason to take your party on the go. With the introduction of ourLimited Edition On the Go Old Fashioned Cocktail Kit, outfitted with Pappy & Company napkins, cups, a carry all tote andBITTERMILK’s Old Fashioned cocktail mixers, you’ve got everything you need to take the bar with you...just add bourbon. Here are a few of our favorite recipes thanks to our friends at BITTERMILK that we’ve been mixing on the go lately. Enjoy!

A Few Tips & Bar Tricks:

  1. Don’t have a shaker on hand? No problem. Use a mason jar in a pinch or try out one of ourPappy & Company Corkcicle Canteens….also a great carrying device for pre-made cocktail concoctions.
  2. Use a tablespoon as a jigger. Looking for something more official? Be sure to check out ourPappy & Company pewter double jigger.
  3. Whether shaking or stirring, always use a few heavy handfuls of ice. Drinking on the rocks? Try ourTovolo Sphere Ice Molds for a slow and steady melt.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Fashioned: Carrie’s Classic

Given how hard it is, even for us, to get our hands on a bottle of Pappy, we’re partial toW.L. Weller Special Reserve when it comes time to making a proper Old Fashioned. It’s exceptionally smooth and ideal for cocktail making.

Carrie likes to drink hers out of the classicOld Rip Van Winkle Rocks Glass. The hand etched details, round shape of the glass and tapered lip is perfect match for this drink.

Ingredients:

  • 4 parts Bourbon
  • 1 part BITTERMILK No. 1

What To Do:

  • Stir with ice in a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with orange twist.

New Orleans Style Old Fashioned Rouge: Louise’s Go To

We like to use thisNew Orleans Original Sazerac Rye for this southern inspired Old Fashioned cocktail recipe. They claim this is the whiskey that started it all for America’s first branded cocktail.

Louise is partial to ourPewter Double Old Fashioned Glass. Engraved with “Pappy & Company” in pewter at the base, this glass holds some substantial weight (literally and figuratively) at the bar and is made for the cocktail aficionado.

Ingredients:

  • 4 parts Rye Whiskey
  • 1 part BITTERMILK No. 4

What To Do:

  • Stir with ice in a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with lemon peel.

Oaxacan Old Fashioned: Chenault’s Favorite

We discoveredMala Idea Mezcal thanks to one of our bartending buddies who knew how much we love tequila but also the flavors and smokiness of a great Old Fashioned. This smoky flavored agave plant based alcohol is a labor of love that uses only the ripest and most mature agaves and is why we love it so much.

When sipping on an Oaxacan Old Fashioned, perfect for warm weather happy hours, you can find Chenault enjoying this cocktail from ourPappy Rocks Glasses. These hand engraved glasses are the perfect mix of sophistication and understated elegance (much like Chenault and its other cocktail fans).

Ingredients:

  • 4 parts Mexcal
  • 1 part BITTERMILK No. 6

What To Do:

  • Stir with ice in a rocks glass.
  • Garnish with lime peel.
